The BBC and Netflix have released a first-look picture of the Stranger Things star as Charles Shelby. The series, set years after we left off from Cillian Murphy in the recently released Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, is currently filming in and around Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham.
“Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality,” reads a plot synopsis. “He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke — played by Jamie Bell (All of Us Strangers, Rocketman, Half Man) — in years. Charles severed all ties to the Peaky Blinders gang, and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood?”

“In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War II, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.”
Also starring in Peaky Blinders are Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal) and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic) in her TV debut. Details of these roles, The Hollywood Reporter is told, will be shared at a later date.
Both new six-episode seasons of the show will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the U.K. and on Netflix across the rest of the world.
Production is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Peaky Blinders is the first commission following the new BBC partnership agreement with the WMCA and Create Central to expand BBC and partner production investment in the West Midlands.
It is produced by Banijay U.K. companies Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders seasons 1-6, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man).
