Streaming service free trials seem to be going the way of the cable box, with most major streaming platforms no longer offering a trial period. Along with HBO Max, Netflix, and Paramount+, Peacock is among the growing number of popular services that no longer offer a free trial.
Peacock’s lack of a free trial is a shame, because the NBCUniversal-owned streamer is home to some massively popular content. Peacock shows live sports, including MLB games, many soccer matches, and certain NBA games. You’ll also find hit series like Love Island, Yellowstone, The Office, and The Traitors, and movies like Wicked: For Good (coming March 20).
How Much Does Peacock Cost?
Peacock’s lack of a free trial is unfortunate, but it’s still relatively affordable. The service offers three subscription tiers: Select, Premium, and Premium Plus.
Peacock Select is the most affordable plan at $7.99 a month or $79.99 a year, but you don’t get any live events, movies, or Peacock originals. Peacock Premium is arguably the best deal at $10.99 a month or $109.99 for on-demand shows and movies and all live events (including the Super Bowl and the 2026 Winter Olympics). Peacock Premium Plus, which removes ads on on-demand content and allows downloads, is $16.99 a month or $169.99 a year.

There’s no way to get a free trial directly through Peacock, as of writing, but there are some hacks that you can use to get a Peacock free trial through other services. DirecTV (with the Movies Extra Pack), Walmart+, Instacart+ all offer free trials and include Peacock at no additional cost. In other words, you can sign up for a free trial to DirecTV, Walmart+, or Instacart+ and watch Peacock for free during the trial window. Here are more details on these three hacks:
Get Peacock Free Trial with Walmart+
Walmart+ (essentially the retailer’s version of Amazon Prime) includes a free subscription to either Peacock Premium or Paramount+. The subscription service gives you fast, free shipping on thousands of Walmart items, plus free grocery delivery and savings on food, auto care, and gas. Walmart+ starts with a 30-day free trial and costs $98 a year after that if you choose to keep the service.

DirecTV offers a Peacock Premium subscription in its Movies Extra Pack, which subscribers can add to any of DirecTV’s Signature Packages. All DirecTV packages also come with a five-day free trial, which means you can sign up for a trial, select the Movies Extra Pack as an add-on, and enjoy five days of free Peacock streaming. Plus, you’ll also get access to all the live channels and on-demand content available through DirecTV’s base packages and the Movies Extra Pack.

The service offers free grocery delivery (minimum order value between $10 and $35), free delivery for restaurant orders over $25, and a free New York Times Cooking subscription.
