England's Red Roses responded to shock back-to-back defeats in Canada with a crushing 55-12 WXV Global Series victory over the USA in New Jersey, returning to winning ways.

John Mitchell's side entered the contest off the back of losing two Tests in a row for the first time in a decade, and having lost their 41-Test, four-year unbeaten run in Toronto.

A competitive first half against the USA saw 10 points in it at half-time, but the second half proved largely one-way traffic as England's superiority showed.

In all, the Red Roses scored nine tries through wing Claudia Moloney-MacDonald (four), centre Meg Jones, wing Mia Venner, replacement hooker Bryony Field and back-rows Maddie Feaunati and Sadia Kabeya.

The USA scored two tries through loosehead prop Hope Rogers and replacement back Kate Zackary, but shipped three second-half tries in nine minutes with prop Mona Tupou in the sin-bin due to repeat scrum penalties.

"First of all, credit to the USA, I think they've come off the back of some amazing wins and gained so much momentum. They are doing such a good effort there, building and growing the game.

"For us, we just wanted to control the game and impose ourselves on them.

"When we got into it, we kept the ball and everyone was a threat at the line. That's when we were unstoppable.

"Off the back of two losses, we just wanted to learn, and we'll continue to learn. We've got so much feedback from this tour.

"We'll go and review it, reflect, and see where we can keep growing. Because I know there is so much growth in this team.

"We've obviously had three really tough games against Canada, and the last two weeks did not go the way we wanted it to go.

"For us, it was about learning as much as we possibly could from those two performances. A challenge we've never really been faced with previously.

"We spoke a lot about going out there and being fearless tonight. That's exactly what we did. We attacked it from minute zero to minute 80.

"We were in it in the first half, and that was really tough because I was so proud of the girls.

"We came into this game confident, you've seen the streak we've had and we've been building.

"But I am so proud of the growth this team has made. Today's result does not take that away."
