The host of new actors will join a returning cast that, along with Skarsgård, features series regulars Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski and recurring actors Clark Gregg, John Cho, DeWanda Wise and Jack McBrayer.

Apple TV ordered a second season of Murderbot in July 2025, just before its critically well-received first season concluded. The series based on Martha Wells’ books stars Skarsgård as the title character, a self-aware security robot who has to hide its free will while carrying out its duties protecting humans — even if all Murderbot really wants to do is watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

CBS Studios produces the series. Creators Chris and Paul Weitz write and direct the show. They also executive produce with Andrew Miano, Dan Balgoyen and Britta Rowings of the Weitzes’ Depth of Field, David S. Goyer and Keith Levine for Phantom Four, and Skarsgård. Wells is a consulting producer.
