The Metropolitan police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed in central London on Friday night.
Officers were called to Abbey Orchard Street, Westminster, at 10.17pm after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed. The scene of the incident is near Parliament Square and Westminster Abbey.
The man, 26, was given first aid by the responding officers before being taken to an ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
Police have said the man’s next of kin have been informed, and that no arrests have yet been made.
Det Supt Dean Lanfear said: “We understand the concern this incident may cause. Officers are on patrol in the area to provide a visual deterrent and to offer reassurance to residents.
“If anyone saw or has any information about what happened last night, please contact police. Even the slightest bit of information can help.”
