Mena Suvari is conjuring up a collaboration with Practical Magic author Alice Hoffman.

Suvari will record the audiobook for Hoffman’s forthcoming novel The Witches of Cambridge, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Scribner Books is set to release the best-selling author’s novel on Sept. 8.

Set in the 1950s in Cambridge, Massachusetts, The Witches of Cambridge centers on Ava and Lauren, two bright Radcliffe College students who get recruited by the Lilith Society, a secret organization of witches dating back to colonial times.

The Witches of Cambridge will be available just days before Warner Bros. is set to theatrically release Practical Magic 2 on Sept. 11. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles as the Owens sisters in the adaptation of Hoffman’s 2021 title The Book of Magic, which is a sequel to her 1995 novel Practical Magic. The 1995 book about the witch siblings spawned the film version that hit theaters in 1998.

“I am thrilled to narrate the audiobook for Alice Hoffman’s spellbinding tale, The Witches of Cambridge,” says Suvari. “It is a joy to bring these rich characters to life and explore the empowering history of women and witchcraft. Magic has always been present in my own life, and I can’t wait for listeners to experience this journey!”

Hoffman adds, “I admire Mena’s ability to bring depth and emotional truth to the characters she inhabits. I know she will capture the heart of this story with remarkable nuance and grace. Audiobooks create an intimate connection between storyteller and listener, and I look forward to Mena’s performance adding a unique dimension to The Witches of Cambridge. I am thrilled for readers and listeners alike to experience her interpretation of this world and these characters.”

Suvari recently wrapped production on the body-swap comedy The Incredible Edible and is set to head back to the American Horror Story for the forthcoming season 13 after her role on 2018’s American Horror Story: Apocalypse. The SAG Award-winning and Emmy-nominated actress is known for such features as American Pie and American Beauty and is also a published author herself, having written the 2021 autobiography The Great Peace: A Memoir.
