FX and Hulu‘s series based on the Far Cry video game franchise is adding a two-time Emmy nominee to its cast.

Lizzy Caplan (Zero Day, Fleishman Is in Trouble) will star opposite Rob Mac in the series. Mac and Noah Hawley are also the creative minds behind Far Cry, which is based on Ubisoft’s mega-selling games franchise.

Details about the story for Far Cry, and thus Caplan’s and Mac’s characters, are being held close to the vest for now. The series, like the games, will feature a different cast and plot each season.

FX ordered the series last November from Mac (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Welcome to Wrexham) and Hawley (Fargo, Alien: Earth), both of whom have long-standing relationships with the network. Far Cry is also a return to FX for Caplan, who earned an Emmy nomination for her role in 2023’s Fleishman Is in Trouble.

Mac (via his More Better Productions) and Hawley (through his 26 Keys company) are executive producing Far Cry with Simon Emanuel, Emilia Serrano of 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel of 3 Arts, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television. FX Productions is the studio.

Caplan most recently starred in the indie thriller comedy Drag, which premiered at SXSW in March. Her credits also include Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Masters of Sex (for which she also scored an Emmy nomination), Paramount+’s Fatal Attraction series and Party Down; she’ll next be seen in Netflix’s series adaptation of The Boys from Brazil. Caplan is repped by UTA, Rise Management and Jackoway Austen.
