Vice President Vance on Monday morning reported notable progress in talks with Iranian negotiators in Switzerland.

The first day of talk, Sunday, “was a very, very good day. We made a lot of good progress. We did exactly what we wanted to do,” he said. It was unclear how long he would remain in Europe or how long talks would extend.

On Capitol Hill, the Senate is poised to approve a housing bill, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which would roll back some permitting regulations and limit corporations from buying up single-family homes, among other things.

President Trump’s relationship with key Senate Republicans is crumbling amid repeated clashes ahead of the November midterms.

Meanwhile, negotiations on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act are a standstill after the spy powers legislation expired last week.

Here’s what to watch on the Hill this week.

The “Great American State Fair” opens this week, but blue states are balking at participating, raising concerns that the event is shaping up to be more partisan than it has been billed. All 50 states will have some sort of representation at the National Mall event, which opens Thursday.

In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he will resign, as his Labour Party is in revolt over his leadership.

Trump on Monday is set to sign executive orders and hold policy meetings.
