Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche will face a Senate Judiciary Committee vote Tuesday morning to advance his nomination for the permanent job.
The vote comes a week after a previous one was canceled as GOP Sens. John Cornyn (Texas) and Thom Tillis (N.C.) said they could not vote in Blanche’s favor. Cornyn secured a deal Sunday in exchange for his support that shuts down the nearly $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund created in a settlement between President Trump and the IRS. But his nomination still faces obstacles.
The panel meeting starts at 9 a.m. EDT.
Tuesday also marks a major point in the primary cycle, as Michigan voters decide which Democrat to back in the Senate race: progressive Abdul El-Sayed and moderate Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.). There are also key House races to watch in Michigan and Missouri.
On Tuesday night, The Hill’s parent company, Nexstar, hosts the second South Carolina GOP Senate debate.
Trump on Tuesday will head out on a two-day swing to California and Nevada to sell his economic agenda.
