On today’s episode of “Daily Variety” podcast, Variety’s Brent Lang breaks down the weekend box office, and Lang gives us his takeaways and impressions about the state of the film industry from his time at CinemaCon last week.

The weekend was dominated by two high-wattage holdovers, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” and “Project Hail Mary.” A24 got its latest effort, Anne Hathaway starrer “Mother Mary,” off to a good start in its word-of-mouth building release in five locations.
