The House of Cards actor who is currently starring on the third season of the Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña espionage series is hopping over to his next Taylor Sheridan series: He’ll be a regular for season three of Landman.
On the Big Oil drama, Kelly will star as William Crockett, who is described as being the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world. “He is a titan of industry and everything about him exudes efficiency and money,” reads the character description.

Kelly’s Crockett seems to be filling the shoes of Jon Hamm’s season one oil tycoon, Monty Miller, who died at the end of the first season, elevating his widowed wife, played by Demi Moore, in both the oil world on the show and as a bigger character in the series. The second season’s big newcomer was Sam Elliott, who joined the megahit series as the father of Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris.
The second season finished with a surprising finale that set up many more seasons to come (spoilers here). Christian Wallace, co-creator of Landman with Sheridan, previously told The Hollywood Reporter that season three would be a “reset” for the West Texas-set oil drama, as it sets out to follow Tommy and co. as they get their new oil company up and running. “There’s a great level of trust there that whatever Taylor decides will be the right move. There are a lot of possibilities,” he said of his co-creator writing the next season in the saga, at the time.
