LAIKA Animation studio Laika, responsible for films like “Coraline” and “ParaNorman,” has become a Certified B Corporation. B Corporations are certified by the nonprofit organization B Lab and must meet rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Certification also requires companies to consider the interests of employees, communities, customers, suppliers, and the environment alongside shareholders. “Being a Certified B Corporation is an important milestone for Laika,” said David Burke, Chief Marketing & Operations Officer. “Since its founding in 2005, Laika has built a studio culture of artists, craftspeople, innovators, and storytellers united by a shared belief: the way we work matters as much as the work we create. While B Corp certification is a new achievement for Laika, many of the values and practices it recognizes have been part of Laika’s culture from the very beginning. We are proud to join the global B Corp community and stand alongside organizations committed to using business as a force for good.”
