(NewsNation) — Kia has issued a “park outside recall” for more than 460,000 vehicles because of a fire risk, federal regulators said.
The recall applies to certain 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles because the front power seat motor could overheat and potentially cause a fire while the car is parked or in motion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
NHTSA said the issue is caused by “a stuck power seat slide knob or an improper recall 24V407 repair.”
Affected owners will be notified by mail starting Aug. 13 and should take their vehicles to a Kia dealer for repairs.
Kia advises owners to “park their vehicles outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the repair has been performed,” the agency added.
For questions, owners can contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. This is at least the third time in recent years Kia has issued a “park outside” recall.
