Conservative media personality Katie Miller, the wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, praised Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-N.Y.) decision to freeze her eggs.
“If one woman wants to preserve her right to have children, which means more than having none—we should celebrate that. If she inspires other women to have babies, we should celebrate that,” Katie Miller said in a post Sunday on the social platform X.
“More women should get married and have babies younger, but too many women buy into the feminist lie and spend their childbearing years climbing the career ladder,” she added.
“When society has more babies and more young women and men are exposed to more babies, there will be more babies. Everyone’s journey to motherhood is different, just as each of us mothers differently. I can’t wait to see how motherhood changes AOC,” she continued, referring to Ocasio-Cortez.
Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday that she is freezing her eggs.
“Usually, I keep my private life quite private, but I have made the decision to start freezing my eggs, and I want to share that with anyone who is — and I want to share this because I was weighing it for a very long time, and I think that, you know, I was saving for it for a very long time, and there just isn’t a ton out there, I feel, and sometimes it can feel very daunting,” the New York Democrat said on Instagram.
Ocasio-Cortez also posted videos of herself — alongside her French bulldog named Deco — talking about the medicine for the procedure and then injecting herself with it. After an injection, she remarked that it “wasn’t so bad.”
In 2020, Ocasio-Cortez said she was thinking about starting a family and had considered freezing her eggs.
“I’m sitting here, I’m like, ‘Do I freeze my eggs? Can I afford to do that?’” Ocasio-Cortez told Vanity Fair in a 2020 interview.
“My orthodontist was telling me about how she was doing IVF [in vitro fertilization], and I’m, like, asking her what her experience is like,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
