A sequel to How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days is in development, more than 20 years after the original hit rom-com was released, with original star Kate Hudson set to produce.
Work on the film is in the "very early days", with sources telling US media, external that both Hudson, 47, and Matthew McConaughey, 56, could reprise their roles from the first film.
In the original, Hudson played a magazine journalist called Andie who researches an article about modern dating. She convinces her boss she can get a man, Benjamin (McConaughey), to leave her in 10 days. Meanwhile, Benjamin bets his boss he can make any woman fall for him, with Andie his target.
Hudson will produce the sequel alongside Stacey Sher, who is behind hits such as Pulp Fiction and Matilda.

The movie grossed nearly $180m worldwide at the box office at the time.
The yellow silk Carolina Herrera dress Hudson wore near the end of the film also became a much talked-about piece of modern cinema fashion.
The star's most recent film role was in 2025's Song Sung Blue, which earned her a second Oscar nomination, following her first nod for Almost Famous back in 2001.
McConaughey's films include Dallas Buyer's Club, which won him an Oscar in 2014, The Wedding Planner and Magic Mike. He also appeared in 2008 movie Fool's Gold alongside Hudson.
Representatives for Hudson and McConaughey have been contacted for comment.
The new film would be the latest in a trend for nostalgic sequels in Hollywood, following The Devil Wears Prada 2 - which came 20 years after the original and also featured a magazine employee called Andy (played by Anne Hathaway).
In 2024, McConaughey told People magazine about his first meeting with Hudson before filming How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
"Immediately, we were comfortable with each other, and we jacked with each other, and we busted each other's chops, and we laughed a lot," he recalled.
"There was a bit of rock and roll exchange, like, 'Oh, this could be some heavyweight fun.' And I think that's why I was cast, and that's why, for whatever extent, it worked."
