Julianne Moore will pick up a lifetime achievement honor at this year’s Rome Film Fest, the latest career-spanning tribute for one of Hollywood’s most decorated and dependably versatile actresses.

The Oscar winner will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival’s 21st edition, which runs Oct. 13 to 25.

Moore will be feted during the Rome screening of The Debut, her new film, which is playing in the festival’s Grand Public section. The prize will be presented by Jesse Eisenberg, who directed, wrote, produced and co-stars in the A24 musical comedy.

The tribute adds to Moore’s already-crowded trophy case, which includes an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Bafta for her turn as a women suffering dementia in Still Alice (2015), and an Emmy, in 2012, for playing Sarah Palin in the Jay Roach-directed miniseries Game Change. Moore is also the only American woman to have won top acting honors at the big three European film festivals, getting the nod for her role in Far From Heaven (2002) in Venice, The Hours (2003) in Berlin, and Maps to the Stars (2014) in Cannes.

Her astounding film career includes standout performances in Robert Altman’s Short Cuts (1993); Boogie Nights (1997) and Magnolia (1999) from Paul Thomas Anderson; in Todd Haynes’ Far From Heaven and May December (2023); and in Pedro Almodóvar’s The Room Next Door (2024) among many others.

In The Debut, which premiered at Telluride as is generating buzz as a strong awards contender, Moore plays a meek New Jersey housewife who gets cast in a small role in a local theatre production, run by a domineering director (played by Paul Giamatti).
