Late-night host Jon Stewart on Monday went after President Trump for his recent comments about the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), in which he ranked the Palmetto State senator’s life numerically.

Earlier Monday, Trump went on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends” to discuss Graham’s life, noting a moment that followed the Jan. 6, 2021, riots in which the South Carolina senator criticized the president.

“Now, he had one bad moment, and that was, you know, on the January 6 thing, when he stood up, ‘All right, now I’ve had it. That’s it. I can’t do it anymore,’” Trump said. “And then he called me, like about 40 minutes later, and he said, ‘Did I really say that? I can’t believe it.’ And he took it back, which — so, I give him a 99 instead of a 100. You know, most people, a lot of people were at 100, but he did have that one little moment.”

In response to Trump’s comments on “Fox & Friends,” Stewart joked on “The Daily Show” that his “favorite part of any eulogy is when they announce the person’s life score.”

“It’s doing a eulogy like it’s Portnoy doing a pizza review,” he added, comparing the president’s comments to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s infamous pizza reviews. “‘Yeah, Graham had a good undercarriage, good mouthfeel. Yeah, yeah. What? I’m doing a score, a life score. I’m doing a life score over here. Anyway, eight-two. I’m going to give him an eight-two, solid score. Eight — if he had let the people kill him on January 6, nine-two, monster score. I’d give him a monster score.’”

Graham died Saturday at the age of 71. The Republican senator, a well-known defense hawk, was in the middle of seeking his fifth term in the upper chamber. He served as chair of the Senate Budget Committee and also served on the Judiciary Committee and Committee on Appropriations, in addition to the Committee on Environment and Public Works.

The office of the Washington, D.C., chief medical examiner said Sunday that Graham died of an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.
