River Callaway/Variety John Travolta has wholeheartedly embraced the beret as his trademark look since his headline-making appearances at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. At the DGA premiere Thursday of his directing debut “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” he told Variety‘s Marc Malkin that he adopted the headwear idea to help feel like a director.
“The beret has been around for 800 years,” Travolta told Malkin. “You know, the military — it’s an old school thing. I looked at all the photographs of me for 50 years and I can’t tell you the difference. I started to not be able to differentiate and I said ‘well, you’re not an actor really.’
