The comedian is in early talks to star in a Get Smart reimagining that is in early development at Warner Bros., The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Seth Grahame-Smith is writing the screenplay for the project that counts Charles Rovan and Andrew Lazar as producers.
Mel Brooks and Buck Henry created the original spy spoof series Get Smart, which debuted on NBC in 1965 and ran for five seasons. Don Adams starred as Maxwell Smart, while Barbara Feldon and Edward Platt rounded out the show’s cast.
Peter Segal directed the 2008 feature Get Smart, which starred Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson. It collected $230 million globally.
