Jersey's retail price index (RPI), which is a key measure of inflation on the island, increased by 2.7% in the last year, new figures show.

The increase over the 12 months to March 2026 is slightly down on the previous quarter's figure of 2.8%, with the annual rate of inflation down 0.1 percentage points.

Statistics Jersey said there were "sharp increases" in some energy prices. The price of heating oil and other fuels rose by 31.9% over the year due to the impact of the war in the Middle East, which has not been fully recorded in the most recent data.

Alcohol, food and household services contributed to the increase, it said.

It said beef had the largest annual change, increasing 19.7%, while the coffee and cocoa section increased by 15.9% annually.

Housing, motoring, fares and other travel, and leisure services groups gave downward contributions to the change in the annual inflation rate, it said.
