Two-time Oscar winner Adrien Brody jokes that he’s not good at pretending.

“I always say I’m a terrible actor because you know when I don’t like something. You know where I stand,” the 52-year-old cracks backstage at the James Earl Jones Theatre, where he’s set to make his Broadway debut in the searing prison drama “The Fear of 13.” As a performer, he says, “I have to work hard to create a solution for myself so I don’t have to hide it.”
