Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, stated that he liked the “woken up” version of former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.).
In a promo for his appearance on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s self-titled show, Biden aired his support of Massie and Greene following their criticism of various Trump administration policies.
“I like Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene. I like that there are people that have kind of woken up,” he said.
Massie publicly broke away from Trump several high-profile issues, including the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, foreign policy and the president’s ballroom renovation.
“He was a bad guy. He deserves to lose,” Trump told reporters at the White House’s annual Congressional Picnic following Massie’s loss to Trump-backed Ed Gallrein in Kentucky’s GOP primaries.
Greene said on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s “Infowars” that Trump is “not the same man that we supported” for a decade.
“The American people have to open their eyes and deal with reality and deal with truth. And the truth is, look, you may have supported President Trump for 10 years, like I did and like you have, but this is not the same man,” she continued.
Greene met with Massie and Carlson, posting on Aug. 1 that she believed Trump had “betrayed us all.”
She teased a potential political movement, writing in the post, “Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun.”
The cracks in the Republican party extended to conservative political commentator Candace Owens, who Biden said he liked in the promotion. She apologized in an interview with Biden for her contributions to public criticism he faced during the 2020 presidential election for his drug addiction and the laptop scandal.
Political analyst Nate Silver said Thursday that President Trump’s approval rating is at a new second-term low in July. The drop in satisfaction with the current administration follows attacks resuming in Iran and rising gas prices across the country, according to Silver.
The full interview between Biden and Carlson will be released on Aug. 10.
