The collapse of film and TV production over the last three years has cost California some 51,000 jobs — mostly in Los Angeles — roughly equivalent to the decline in L.A.’s aerospace workforce in the early 1990s.

The candidates for California governor are taking notice and starting to roll out plans to resuscitate the industry, largely centered on a significant expansion of the state’s $750 million tax incentive for in-state production.
