Hogwarts is getting a darker wardrobe. HBO’s new Harry Potter series arrives Dec. 25, with the eight-episode first season titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stount as Ron. The ensemble also includes John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape and Nick Frost as Hagrid. Francesca Gardiner serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer, while Mark Mylod directs multiple episodes and executive produces the series.
