Giant has recouped its $5.6 million Broadway capitalization.

The play, starring John Lithgow, Aya Cash and Elliot Levey, recouped its investment 10 weeks into its Broadway run, and while only playing seven shows a week from March through May. This was supported by high grosses throughout its run so far, with the play bringing in $1.2 million as of the week of May 10, with the theater playing close to capacity each week.

This is the latest play of the 2025-2026 season to recoup, following the Daniel Radcliffe-led Every Brilliant Thing, Waiting for Godot, with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, and Art, with Neil Patrick Harris, Bobby Cannavale and James Corden.

The play, written by Mark Rosenblatt and directed by Nicholas Hytner, began performances at the Music Box Theatre March 11.

Lithgow portrays children’s author Roald Dahl, as an executive from his publishing house comes to his home in order to try to get him to apologize for a book review he wrote which criticizes Israel, after the country’s siege of Lebanon.

Giant comes to Broadway after a West End run, where it took home the Olivier for best new play, in addition to trophies for Lithgow and Levey. The production has also planned a cinematic release of the show, which was filmed in London with stars Lithgow, Cash, Levy and Stirling, in more than 900 cinemas in 18 countries including the United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Australia and select international territories starting Nov. 19.

The cast also includes Rachael Stirling, Stella Everett and David Manis. Brian and Dayna Lee, Stephanie Kramer and Nicole Kramer, Josh Fiedler and Robyn Goodman and Royal Court Theatre are producing.
