The Royal Shakespeare Company has unveiled production dates and a full creative team for “Game of Thrones: The Mad King,” a new play based on the novels by George R. R. Martin, adapted by Duncan Macmillan and directed by Dominic Cooke.

The world premiere will run at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from July 20 through Sept. 5.

Spanning the final years before the events of Martin’s novels, the production is billed as a sweeping stage epic that brings to life a legendary chapter of the history of Westeros. The production will also see the Royal Shakespeare Theatre staged in a new configuration, placing audiences at the heart of the action.
