Courtesy of Alpha Violet Paris-based sales agency Alpha Violet has acquired international sales rights to “Prince,” the darkly funny feature from Uruguayan filmmaker Federico Borgia, ahead of its world premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival this October.
Set against the decaying seaside luxury of Punta del Este in Uruguay, “Prince” explores class divisions, grief and domestic absurdity.
The story follows Jaime, a former lover turned butler to Isabel, a wealthy Argentine woman. When Isabel dies suddenly, her will reveals an extraordinary condition: her elegant Afghan Hound, Prince, has inherited her luxury estate. Jaime is charged with protecting the dog and the property — which Isabel’s human heirs can only claim once Prince dies. As Isabel’s estranged son and granddaughter move in and attempt to oust the animal, Jaime finds himself navigating old family resentments, a fractured relationship with his own son, and escalating threats to Prince’s life.
