Lyndsey Fifield, a woman who previously accused Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner of violent behavior in a New York Times article last month, has alleged that the oyster farmer had sex with her without protection without receiving consent to do so.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Fifield, an ex-girlfriend of Platner, said he took off protection during sex multiple times with no consent.
“He would pull condoms off,” Fifield told the Post. “He would do it in a sneaky way. He wouldn’t tell me.”
“Jenny also talked about unprotected sex as something she didn’t want to happen that he made happen,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said in an interview with Fifield that aired Tuesday on “The Lead,” referencing another woman who has accused Platner of rape. “Is that something you experienced?” Tapper asked.
“Yeah,” Fifield responded. “So, that was something that was really, I think, the worst and most violating part.”
The Hill has not independently verified Fifield’s claims.
When reached for comment, Platner’s campaign said in a statement that “this claim is categorically false and politically motivated, coming from the co-founder of Ladies for Kavanaugh,” referencing the Supreme Court justice who has also been accused of sexual assault. The New York Post reported in 2018 that Fifield co-founded the group for women to show their support for Kavanaugh after accusations of sexual assault came out before his confirmation hearings.
On Monday, Platner said his campaign was “taking the time to reflect on the best path forward.” His comments came shortly after Politico published a story in which a woman who previously dated him alleged he had sexually assaulted her.
“I wanted to directly address the troubling, serious and false allegations against me. Any accusation of non-consensual behavior is categorically false,” Platner said in the two-minute video posted online.
Earlier on Monday, Politico reported that a woman who previously dated Platner, Jenny Racicot, said that Platner had forced her to have sex with him while he was intoxicated five years ago.
The Maine Democratic Senate candidate vehemently denied accusations of sexual assault to Politico in the video.
