A reboot of John Carpenter’s “Escape From New York” is in development at StudioCanal.

The production company announced the news at CinemaCon, the exhibition industry’s annual trade convention that kicked off on Monday in Las Vegas. StudioCanal confirmed no further details about the new take on “Escape From New York.” Kurt Russell starred in the original film as former special forces and current federal prisoner Snake Plissken, who will be pardoned if he can rescue the President of the United States after he’s taken hostage.
