Epic Games Epic Games has confirmed plans to lay off just more than 1,000 staffers and cut $500 million in costs amid a downturn in engagement with the company’s signature gaming franchise “Fortnite.”
The cuts represent about 20% of Epic’s headcount. “The remaining number of Epic employees is just over 4,000 after today’s layoffs of just over 1,000,” a rep for the games company said.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney disclosed the news in a memo to employees that was blunt about the company’s challenges.
