Sally Field in “Remarkably Bright Creatures” Netflix Outstanding Movie (Updated: May 28, 2026): Streamers hope to dominate the one film category at the Emmys.
A last-minute HBO Max entry is sliding under the Emmy eligibility wire. “Miss You, Love You,” the latest from Oscar-winning “The Descendants” scribe Jim Rash, stars Emmy darling Allison Janney and Andrew Rannells. HBO Films acquired the project out of a secret buyers screening at Sundance and will now push it into the newly renamed outstanding movie category.
Its top competition figures seem to be a Netflix triple threat: the “Remarkably Bright Creatures” adaptation starring Sally Field, the Emily Henry rom-com “People We Meet on Vacation” and the love story “Ruth and Boaz.”
Prime Video brings WGA winner “Deep Cover” from director Tom Kingsley, while Hulu mounts a one-two punch with “Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice,” starring James Marsden and Vince Vaughn, and “Swiped,” starring and executive produced by Lily James.
The Emmy Awards timeline begins with nomination-round voting from June 11-22, with nominations announced July 8. Final voting runs Aug. 17-26, leading into the Creative Arts Awards and Governors Gala on Sept. 5-6, culminating with the Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 14 on NBC.
