Oscar Isaac in “Beef” (Season 2) Netflix Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Updated: April 9, 2026): HBO Max’s “DTF St. Louis” is building strong Emmy momentum for Jason Bateman, who is already confirmed as a lead actor (limited) push for Netflix’s “Black Rabbit,” which he also executive-produced and directed. His official category submission for Steven Conrad’s dark miniseries is still undecided. Emmy rules allow actors to receive multiple nominations in the same category. Still, Bateman competing against himself for two high-profile limited series, in addition to potentially competing against his “DTF” co-star David Harbour, could be tricky to handle. The last comparable instance was Lee Grant, who earned dual noms for the title single performance by an actress in a leading role — for “Columbo” and her winning work in “The Neon Ceiling.”
The decision on the “DTF St. Louis” category placement will depend on where they decide to campaign the ensemble.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s “Beef” is poised to continue breaking ground for underrepresented communities. Season 2 star Oscar Isaac could become the second Latino to win lead actor (limited) after Jharrel Jerome took the category for “When They See Us.” In “Beef,” Isaac delivers another stellar, emotionally complex performance. Season 1 already made history for its leading man — Steven Yeun became the first Asian actor to win the category.
The Emmy Awards timeline begins with nomination-round voting from June 11-22, with nominations announced on July 8. The final voting runs from Aug. 17-26, leading into the Creative Arts Awards and Governors Gala on Sept. 5–6, culminating with the Emmy Awards ceremony on Sept. 14 on NBC.
