CLARY/AFP/Getty Images Elon Musk is officially the world’s first trillionaire. On Friday, SpaceX’s initial public offering, or IPO, shot up the valuation of the space exploration and AI company to an astronomical $1.77 trillion, the largest IPO and corporate valuation in history. Musk’s controlling share of the corporation’s stock pushed his already astronomical net worth of around $800 billion into the trillions.
It’s an almost unimaginable amount of money now under the control of the already wealthiest man on the planet. So to help visualize just how much Musk is worth, here are some points of comparison — and some other numbers that will define Musk’s career.
$1.1 trillion: The estimated net worth of Musk on June 12, 2026.
$1.85 million: The estimated lifetime earnings of the median American man.

12: Number of attempted SpaceX Starship launches
6: Number of SpaceX Starship launches that ended in failure.
$38 billion: The amount Musk’s companies have received in contracts, tax credits, and grants from the federal government between 2003 and 2025.
$332: The average amount an American family on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program receives in aid per month.
$21.7 billon: Estimated amount of taxpayer funds wasted by Elon Musk’s DOGE operation.
$100 million: The combined estimated value of the seven residential properties Musk put on the market in 2020.
$100 million: The amount of affordable housing subsidies and assistance programs Musk eliminated as head of DOGE.
7: The number of women who sued Musk’s Fremont, California, Telsa factory alleging sexual harassment. (One case was settled under undisclosed terms; the cases of the six other women remain unresolved.)
