Richard Lakos British stand-up comedian and writer Elf Lyons is bringing her show “The Woman on the Edge” to New York. The limited run at the SoHo Playhouse, from Sept. 24 to Oct. 18, marks Lyons’ United States debut.
Presented by WestBeth Entertainment and Mick Perrin Worldwide, the show is a “completely normal, autobiographical (and in no way complex) comedy about love” in which Elf blends “her distinctive theatrical style with sharp comedic instincts as it leans into the absurd, the emotional and the unpredictable,” according to the logline. The story is inspired by the collapse of Elf’s own engagement: She’s unable to perform “The Woman on the Edge” herself, and so one of her characters must perform it on her behalf.
