President Donald Trump has fired U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, while praising her as having done “a tremendous job” in cracking down on crime during her nearly 14-month tenure.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote that Bondi will be “transitioning” to an as-yet-unspecified job in the private sector. Todd Blanche, the deputy attorney general, will assume the role of acting U.S. attorney general, according to the president.
