“For the 17th year of the DVF Awards, I am excited to honor women who have the courage to fight, the strength to survive and the leadership to inspire,” said von Furstenberg in a statement.
Von Furstenberg and the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation launched the DVF Awards in 2010 as a way to spotlight and support “extraordinary women” dedicated to “transforming the lives of other women; women who have had the courage to fight, the strength to survive and the leadership to inspire.” Five trophies are handed out to women along with a grant to each honoree, a gift bestowed to their respective nonprofit organizations to help propel and support their work.
This year’s lineup covers such causes as environmental protection, political leadership, frontline journalism, food and education and advocacy for survivors. The DVF Awards also come at a time of immense challenges globally across the political and social landscape. More about the event and Furstenberg’s empire can be found here.
