The National Entertainment Awards Academy for Military and Veterans is hosting its second annual MV Awards Gala this spring, with Dennis Quaid set as the night’s big honoree.

The Military and Veteran Entertainment Awards is taking place at Los Angeles’ Skirball Cultural Center on May 23, hosted by actor and veteran advocate Maurice P. Kerry; Kerry is a decorated U.S. Marine Corps Iraq War veteran whose credits include Beyond the Gates and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

Quaid will receive the Patriot Ally Award, presented by the National and State Commander of the American Legion, for his support of the veteran community. The night serves to spotlights storytelling and creative voices that elevate the veteran experience across film and media, as the industry continues to value on authenticity and lived experience in storytelling. It also aims to challenge outdated stereotypes and create a more accurate, empowering narrative of U.S. vets.

“Maurice brings professionalism, presence and heart to the stage,” NEAAMV chairman Joe Ramirez said in a statement. “Having him co-host an evening that also honors Dennis Quaid reflects the caliber of voices supporting veterans in media.”

Kerry added in his own statement, “Storytelling is evolving, and audiences are responding to truth. Veterans bring a level of discipline, perspective and authenticity that can’t be manufactured.”

The ceremony will include award presentations, special recognition for Vietnam Veteran-related films, and participation from both veteran and non-veteran creatives. This year’s event is supported by American Legion Ronald Reagan Palisades Post 283, SAG-AFTRA, True Religion Brand Jeans and VetStreamTV.
