Leaders of the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) on Wednesday called on Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) to resign, as the House Ethics Committee probes abuse allegations levied against him by his ex-wife.

DWC Chair Teresa Leger Fernández (N.M.) and Vice Chairs Hillary Scholten (Mich.) and Emilia Sykes (Ohio) called the alleged abuse Miller perpetrated against Emily Moreno, his ex-wife, and 2-year-old daughter “horrifying,” adding it “now warrants immediate action by Congress.”

The caucus leaders added, “Due to the growing evidence and clear lack of remorse, we are calling on Rep. Miller to resign immediately.”

Moreno, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), has accused the lawmaker of throwing hot water at her, pointing a gun at her head and breaking their daughter’s collarbone. The two divorced in 2025 and are currently in a custody battle over their daughter.

The 10-member House Ethics panel opened a probe into Miller on Tuesday, shortly after the two-term representative said he would file his own paperwork for the panel to probe him. Leger Fernández, Scholten and Sykes also urged the bipartisan committee to investigate the Ohio Republican last week.

Ethics Chair Michael Guest (R-Miss.) and ranking member Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) said the committee was reviewing whether Miller “engaged in domestic violence and abuse or illegal drug use.”

The embattled lawmaker has repeatedly denied the allegations and has insisted he will continue his bid for a third term in the lower chamber.

“I have never done these things, these things have already been investigated,” Miller told host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “The Lead” on Tuesday.

But President Trump on Monday also urged Miller to drop out of the race, a source familiar with their call told The Hill. The GOP lawmaker previously worked as an aide to Trump during his first term.

Miller is one of multiple male lawmakers the Ethics Committee has investigated over misconduct. Former Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) resigned from Congress earlier this year after multiple women accused Swalwell of sexual assault and Gonzales admitted to an affair with a staffer who later died by suicide.

In addition to Miller, the panel is looking into allegations that Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) engaged in dating violence and violated campaign finance laws.

Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.) also withdrew his reelection bid early Wednesday, two days after the committee recommended that lawmakers formally censure the 65-year-old lawmaker for violating the “spirit” of the chamber’s policies on sexual harassment against staff.

In their statement calling on Miller to resign, the three DWC leaders referenced the other probes into lawmakers.

“Instead of focusing on fighting for an affordable America, we are again spending precious time disciplining yet another member of Congress who is abusing his position,” they wrote. “The culture of power hungry men who terrorize women on and off of the Hill must stop.”
