Camila Laureano Colón* De La Rose is on a roll. The Puerto Rican singer has become one of this year’s most-streamed female Latin acts on Spotify and seems readier than ever for global expansion. Now, to expand her reach, she has teamed up with Colombian singer Ryan Castro for her new single “La Monda.”
“I’ve been working toward this moment for a long time, so being able to see my music connect with people in different countries and cultures is something I’m extremely grateful for,” De La Rose tells Rolling Stone. “I never want to lose the connection with my fans or the authenticity that brought me here. For me, becoming a global artist is about continuing to create music that represents who I am while sharing my story with more people around the world.”
De La Rose, whose real name is Yuberkis Gabriela Marie de la Rosa Bryan, is from Cayey and has collaborated with reggaeton heavy-hitters Myke Towers, Jhayco, Sech, and Mora. She’s also made a list of hits with longtime collaborative partner Omar Courtz. Now, she’s embracing Colombia with Castro.
“Working with Ryan was an amazing experience,” she says. “He brings so much charisma, authenticity, and energy to everything he does. The chemistry felt natural from the beginning, and he elevated the song with his unique style. It was special to create something together because we both brought our own identity while making a record that feels fresh, international, and full of energy.”
“La Monda” is Colombian slang, specifically from the country’s Caribbean region, that means something is cool or the best. Castro slides in at the halfway point with his signature “Awoo!” callout. In the tropical music video, the two of them transform a Miami set into a vibrant party in Colombia.
