Courtesy photo David Sheiner, the character actor known for his work in films like “The Odd Couple” and shows like “Murder, She Wrote,” died June 5 of renal failure in Los Angeles, his daughter Kate Sheiner confirmed to Variety.
Sheiner was a Lee Strasberg-trained actor who left Broadway to move to Los Angeles. While studying the performing arts, his classmates included the likes of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean, according to his family’s biography. While on Broadway, Sheiner originated the role of Bellman in “Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?” which opened in 1955.
