The theatrical journey continues for Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey.

Universal Pictures‘ acclaimed and starry mythological epic is set for a nationwide theatrical rerelease on Dec. 11 after its record-setting run over the summer. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, The Odyssey will return to more than 1,000 North American theaters in all formats, including Imax and Imax 70mm.

With Nolan and Emma Thomas producing for Syncopy, The Odyssey has collected $626 million domestically for a global cume of $1.8 billion. It continues to play in international markets in all formats and recently surpassed 2015’s Furious 7 as Universal’s highest-grossing international release ever.

Universal announced in September that the film had surpassed 2015’s Jurassic World to become the studio’s highest-grossing release of all time. It had previously supplanted 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises as the top-grossing feature in the acclaimed filmmaker’s career after opening on July 17 with Nolan’s biggest debut frame internationally and globally.

This rerelease is well-timed as awards season heats up, with The Odyssey expected to be among the top candidates for an array of Academy Award categories, including best picture. Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron round out the cast for the feature adaptation of Homer’s ancient poem about Odysseus (Damon) making his way home to Ithaca after the Trojan War.

After becoming the first narrative feature to be shot entirely on Imax film cameras, The Odyssey notched the biggest debut frame domestically for Imax 70mm and delivered the studio’s highest-grossing opening for an R-rated title. Nolan’s film continued to hit milestones throughout its run, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, in addition to Imax’s highest-grossing feature ever.

The Odyssey stands just outside the all-time global top 10 chart, holding down the No. 11 spot behind Zootopia 2 and its $1.87 billion. Nolan’s film is No. 15 on the all-time domestic chart and remains below Jurassic World’s $652 million for Universal’s biggest North American haul.
