Chris Hemsworth in 'Extraction 2.' Jasin Boland/Netflix Logo text Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba are back for the latest installment in Netflix‘s Extraction franchise.
The streaming service announced Wednesday that the third movie in the action series is officially moving forward, with Sam Hargrave, who helmed the first two films, returning to direct the latest sequel. Golshifteh Farahani rounds out the cast for the project that has a script from David Weil.
Plot details for Extraction 3 have not yet been revealed. Elba joined the franchise with a cameo in Extraction 2, which premiered in 2023.

The initial movie debuted in 2020 and broke viewership records for Netflix at the time. It introduced Tyler Rake (Hemsworth), a mercenary who sets out to rescue a drug lord’s kidnapped son in Bangladesh. The franchise is based on Ande Parks’ graphic novel Ciudad, which has a story credited to Parks, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, along with illustrations from Fernando Leon Gonzalez.
Producers on the third movie include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Ari Costa for AGBO, alongside Hemsworth and Benjamin Grayson for Wild State. Also producing are Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin. Steven V. Scavelli is executive producing.
