©Sony Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection Sony’s blockbuster “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” held onto the top spot at the mainland China box office during the Aug. 7–9 weekend, pulling in RMB196.6 million ($28.9 million) in its second full frame.
The film has now amassed a cumulative total of $185.4 million since its July 29 opening.
Pearl Studio’s animated fantasy feature “All Wishes Come True!” maintained its strong summer run, taking second place with $20.4 million in its fourth weekend. Directed by Mu Zhengyang, the local hit pushed its total cumulative box office to $210.6 million since its July 18 release.
