Getty Images Cher is responding with grace to Michael Douglas‘ viral diss over her 1988 Oscar win for “Moonstruck.” A representative for the music and acting icon told Entertainment Weekly point blank: “Cher adores Michael Douglas.”
At the 60th Academy Awards in April 1988, Cher took home the prize for best actress over Douglas’ “Fatal Attraction” co-star Glenn Close. Douglas still disagrees with the Academy’s decision nearly 40 years later. Appearing alongside Close on a recent episode of “The Graham Norton Show,” Douglas noted that “she should have won [the Oscar] with ‘Fatal Attraction'” and that Close “was nominated, I believe, [for] her fourth” Oscar by that time. When the actor noted Cher won the Oscar instead, Norton responded, “Oh wow,” prompting Douglas to diss Cher: “I know, that’s what we all said!”
