Nothing has made a name for itself as an under-the-radar tech brand, but it doesn’t look like it will stay under the radar much longer. The London-based company announced that Charli XCX will be its first global ambassador, with the singer appearing in a campaign highlighting its headphones.
In addition to joining Nothing as an ambassador, Charli XCX also signed up as a shareholder, indicating that this partnership isn’t just a one-and-done photoshoot. In a statement, Charli wrote, “When I’m creating, I’m always thinking about how my work will be experienced out in the world and I love how Nothing headphones sound and are designed. Its ethos of prioritising creatives is really something I look for when working with a partner.”
The campaign was shot by Charli XCX’s longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri, and features her in a room “for five days,” highlighting the longevity of the headphones’ battery. While we have to assume she wasn’t locked in a room for a full work week, given how busy she’s been — in addition to soundtracking Wuthering Heights, she’s appearing in four movies this year and just released “Rock Music,” the first single for her anticipated post-Brat album — the spot is a convincing sell.
The Nothing (a) headphones, Charli XCX’s co-star in the campaign, were released in March of this year, and boast a retro-futuristic design with up to 135 hours of battery life with ANC off. In addition to the playful aesthetic, the headphones feature physical volume and playback controls for a more tactile experience.
The Nothing (a) headphones are the sequel to the brand’s flagship over-ears, which we tested last year. Beyond their bold look, Nothing’s earbuds and headphones have great sound quality and features, which is why they’re among our favorite AirPod alternatives and noise-canceling headphones.
