Charlamagne tha God. Paras Griffin/Getty Images Fans of the popular radio show, The Breakfast Club, will now be able to watch Charlamagne tha God at work. Starting June 1, Netflix will stream video of the broadcast, making it the platform’s premiere video podcast, according to the program’s website. Charlamagne co-hosts the self-proclaimed “World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show” alongside DJ Envy and Jess Hilarious. Episodes, which last three hours and include interviews and commentary, will begin at 6 a.m. ET on weekdays.
“Do y’all understand what ‘Live Globally’ really means? [It means] mornings in New York. Daytime in the U.K. and Ghana. Evenings across other parts of the world,” Charlamagne said in a statement. “The media landscape will always evolve, but one thing consistently cuts through: live programming. That’s a big reason The Breakfast Club has sustained its reign for so long. We’re building something powerful — real-time conversation, real community, on a global scale.”
The video podcast will run concurrently with syndicated radio broadcasts of The Breakfast Club, which airs on more than 100 stations nationwide and is free on iHeartRadio’s app. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the Netflix deal deepens its licensing with iHeartRadio, Spotify, and other podcasters. The Bill Simmons Podcast, which Spotify’s The Ringer distributes, already has a Netflix deal.
