Character.ai is expanding beyond chatbot interactions and into narrative entertainment with the launch of “Books,” a new AI-powered experience that allows users to step inside and interact with classic works of literature.

Rolling out Thursday as part of the platform’s c.ai Labs initiative, the feature introduces a library of more than 20 public-domain titles — including “Pride and Prejudice,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Frankenstein” — that users can play by inserting themselves directly into the story.
