CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil will moderate the event in Michigan, where elections for key seats in the Senate and House are taking place. Michigan voters, who also will be electing their first new governor in eight years, will be in attendance from across the political spectrum. They will be able to ask questions and share their thoughts.
According to CBS, issues discussed during the “Things That Matter” town hall will include the Congressional elections, affordability, tariffs, immigration, healthcare, artificial intelligence, the war with Iran and the state of our democracy.
The one-hour special will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
The special is a big push for Dokoupil, given the primetime timeslot and the big get with Vance. it also continues CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss’ desire to hold more town halls and buzzy events that include newsmakers.
Previous CBS News town halls have featured the Artemis astronauts, former U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse (April 26) and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.
