CBS 2026-27 Schedule: ‘Ghosts,’ ‘Matlock’ Move to Midseason, ‘Cupertino’ Legal Drama Gets Fall Spot

The CBS primetime schedule for 2026-27 isn’t all that different from the one for this season — but a couple of changes are notable.

The network is moving two of its Thursday staples, Ghosts and Matlock, to midseason in order to make room for a pair of new series in Eternally Yours and Cupertino. The former is a comedy from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman that centers on a family of vampires; it will move into the 8:30 Thursday spot following Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage come fall.

Cupertino is a legal drama set in Silicon Valley from Robert and Michelle King, and starring Mike Colter as an attorney who opens a practice dedicated to taking on the Goliaths of the tech industry. It’s set to air at 10 p.m. Thursdays after the Kings’ other CBS show, Elsbeth.

Vampire Comedy 'Eternally Yours' Snags CBS Series Order for 2026-27

CBS has also ordered another NCIS entry, NCIS: New York, which will mark LL Cool J’s return to the franchise. It’s set to air on Tuesdays in the fall.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach told reporters Wednesday that despite the midseason date, Ghosts will still have a full, 22-episode run in 2026-27. The show will also air hour-long Halloween and Christmas specials before the season officially starts. The episode count for season three of Matlock is still being determined, Reisenbach said.

One other change to CBS’ lineup for next season is that it’s dropping a Monday comedy block with The Neighborhood ending and first-year show DMV canceled. FBI will move into the 8 p.m. hour on Mondays, followed by CIA and unscripted show Harlan Coben’s Final Twist.

NCIS: New York will follow the flagship series on Tuesdays, and the other two current shows in the NCIS franchise will split the 10 p.m. hour: NCIS: Origins will air in the fall, and NCIS: Sydney will follow at midseason. The network is leaving its Wednesday and Friday lineups intact, and Marshals and Tracker will continue airing Sunday nights after 60 Minutes.

Along with Ghosts and Matlock, CBS will also debut a comedic crime procedural called Einstein at midseason. The series, which CBS initially ordered for this season before pushing it back, stars Matthew Gray Gubler as the great-grandson of Albert Einstein, who’s paired with a detective (Melissa Fumero) to consult on cases as a way to stay out of jail.
