Democratic strategist James Carville on Wednesday suggested President Trump would depart office by next spring, noting his life would be “miserable” after sweeping losses during midterm elections.

“He can’t stay awake. He says he’s ‘bored’ with the Iran war. He’s going to — and I’m telling you, this guy, by Easter of 2027, is just going to walk away from this job,” Carville said during a Wednesday episode of the “Politicon” podcast.

“He’s just going to f—ing walk away because he doesn’t have any idea of what it’s going to be like when he comes to grips with the massive, I mean it’s going to be a massive rejection of him,” he added, doubling down on his statement from last week.

Carville told listeners that Trump was “fat” and “unhealthy” while slamming the leader for falling asleep during Cabinet meetings and other high-stakes events.

He added that Trump has “no earthly idea of what’s coming for him,” pointing to the possibility of widespread subpoenas for administration officials if Democrats regain political power in Congress.

“I know what it’s like to lose a massive, off-year election. We did in 1994. It’s so monumental, it’s so massive, it hurts so deep, you just can’t imagine it. The entire world around him is going to change during November of this year,” Carville said.

“People don’t pay attention to you, they’re making jokes. Everybody knows you’re on a short leash, you’ve got two years left to go, you don’t have any power. Everyone around you is being subpoenaed for everything you can imagine. Your life is miserable. He doesn’t have the stamina,” the strategist added of Trump.

Democrats are polling 10 points ahead of Republicans, according to an Emerson College survey among likely voters in the November general election.

However, polling advantages for the party during the 2024 presidential election were not always reliable. Despite former Vice President Kamala Harris’s lead in national polls, Trump overtook her with ease by winning key battleground states.

The president has waded into GOP primaries and successfully helped to defeat a handful of Republican incumbents who have bucked his legislative agenda, leading some to believe his influence will soften the midterm blow.

He has pushed for redistricting measures ahead of the midterms, which could shift more seats toward the GOP in several states.
